Question Aftermarket bluetooth with Uconnect 3.0

Hi, new to the forum with my brand new 2014 RAM 2500.

I need to get an aftermarket bluetooth hooked into my Uconnect 3.0. I am looking at the Rostra Con-verse bluetooth kit 2507500CHR6 http://www.rostra.com/con-verse-by-r...-bluetooth.php
They seem to have a "plug and play" installation and state it works with the 2014 RAM 2500 BASE sound system
From their site:
Ram Trucks 1500-3500 2013- For use with vehicles equipped with base sound
system. 250-7500-CHR6 250-7591 250-7526 250-7507

They also have a install videos on youtube for a 2013 RAM 1500

Is the Uconnect 3.0 the base sound system?

In the RAMTRUCKS site when I build a model, it is appears to be the "base" sound system as it is zero cost and the only other option is the Uconnect 5.0 which has bluetooth.

The same company makes the base model RA1 3.0 & the RA2 5.0 radios
The 5.0 is a touch screen, with Bluetooth & you can also use it with a stock Parkview backup camera

If you are happy enough with the 3.0 radio & just want to add Bluetooth, please at least
look at the devises made by PARROT
http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/b...free-car-kits/

I had the 3100 in my last Chevy truck & i was totally impressed

So do you know if the Uconnect is the base radio that they talk about or some other model (RA1 3.0). With Parrot, I can't determine what product will work with the truck and one of their devices is in an plug and play manner like this one from Rostra.

Read this on the RA1 3.0 radio, then click on the radios manual & skim through it

This is the RA2 5.0 radio

Cool

Thanks! Very helpful. It appears that this radio in the link and the radio that the video shows installing the Rostra Bluetooth device are identical. So i will try it and report back here later after i have done the install. The nice thing about this bluetooth device is that is also supports audio payback through the radio (in stereo) but only the two front speakers.

The parrot you mention does not have any wiring harnesses for these vehicles.

Default worked great

it works great. Looks very OEM. The wiring instructions from the you tube video were not exactly accurate but it was a 1500 and the wiring of the device was different than shown also. But it wan't hard to figure out. Just need to make sure you pick the right power wire

I bought one of these : http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B009...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They work great and require no modding. Just threw it in the center console and never have to worry about it
