Default Towing in low range

No, not down the highway.

But, I want to use low range on my 97 1500 4x4 5 speed for backing up and "fine tuning" the trailer. The question is, has anyone ever put a vacuum valve on the center axle disconnect? I want low range, but not 4 wheel drive. It seems like I could just run a couple of vacuum lines and an electric valve somewhere.

Thanks.

Just put it in 4x4 Low, you'll be fine if you don't make any drastic turns, or better do it on grass or dirt. I use my Ram to skid out logs. It pulls hard enough to break 15,000 lb dacron tow rope, never did any harm.

I had an S/10 that had vacuum problems. I wound up going to the pet store and buying a valve for a fish tank and hiding it under the dash.

I would open it to engage the 4wd and close it to shut it off.
