Exclamation A/C Heater Control Unit - Blinking heater light

HELP!
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab.

I took my truck in for a recall and had Dodge give me an estimate on how much to charge for replacing a blend door to fix my A/C. I picked up my truck and now my A/C button doesn't work and my Defrost light is flashing. They tried several times to reset it and swore they didn't touch anything but couldn't stop it and sent me on my way even with a disagreement since it wasn't like that previous to taking it to them.
Their fix was to put a piece of electrical tape over the light so I didn't see it and send me on my way because they were closing. Their other option was for me to just sell it and upgrade to a newer version. No joke! Talk about disrespectful and unacceptable.
Obviously, I won't be going back there and putting in a complaint with Dodge about them and the way I was treated at this Dodge location.
So now, I am stuck with a blinking light and the A/C light doesn't work.

I replaced the blend door this weekend with assistance from my dad (whew what a job!). The Air works great but that didn't resolve any of the A/C heater control unit issues. HELP!!!!!

Should I replace my A/C Heater control unit? Will this resolve the problem?
Does the controls need be reset somehow? If so can someone advise what to actually tell a mechanic to do in order to fix this so I don't get taken advantage of again. I
'm a single mom and can't afford to just buy unnecessary parts if they are not needed or pay for hours of labor for troubleshooting randomly with no fix.

I appreciate any help/suggestions anyone can give.
