I'd love to see a true factory-built competitor to the Raptor, but besides being just a trim level on the 1500 (and thus not a "new model") I don't see much money to be made in that niche, so not likely. Would be cool, though.

What new product will they introduce that they think will take a bigger bite out of Ford and GM's market share? What do the others offer - or plan to offer - that Ram does not? Should be interesting.
I dont think RAM has the pockets for an endeavor like a Raptor competitor at this time. They need to focus on the task at hand...keeping the sales momentum going. Keep improving the trucks and taking market share. With what they are doing with the Challenger, they truly understand the need for High performance and niche vehicles. Developing something like that in the truck line would take some serious doing. They just need to open up the time and money for it when the time is right. They know it can be profitable. The Raptor has more than paid off for Ford and they made a great product so RAM will have to do it right. The half azzed RamRunner, was not even close. But if done right, it can be great for RAM.

As far as what the others offer that RAM does not? Well, RAM got a jump on the others in 2013. The GM just barely caught up with their all new truck in 2014. What GM offers is a BIG motor, BIG power gasser option. Its not available on all their trucks, but it is on the high end tim. I think RAM needs that kind option.

As for Ford, their new truck has an aluminum body and they came out with a bunch of new techy gadgets. Good news is that the motors probably wont change much. And for some reason they added a SMALLER ecoBoost. So nothing scarey on the engine department. But they really went ballz out on the body and the new tech. So RAM just needs to offer some cool new tech to close the gap. Doesn't have to be earth shaking but a few new tricks would be cool. Like adaptive cruise, bed lights, new apps and technology. Those types of things.

They also need to throw in some cool innovations when they can. The new split tailgate would be perfect to throw in on a mid model update. Ever improving power and mpg numbers are also easy mid model refresh options.

I guess we'll find out soon.

Ram already has a bigger gasoline engine then the 5.7L with the 2500 models at least

The reason Ford went with the aluminum body is so they could save 700 pounds of vehicle weight, so that they could honestly say that they have a larger towing capacity. They have lied about it for several years
Now everyone has to follow the The SAE's J2807 towing test standard
