Ransram makes a good point. I have 3:55 gears on my Sport and tow a 28' TT loaded weighs 6500 - 7K pounds and it performs very well, even going up long 6-7% grades.

Ok, to clear a few things up. I did exaggerate about the 20 feet of rubber. It would squak the tires though, and that's with about a 600 pound tong weight. My Ram empty will barely squak the tires. The one who said this post is BS if full of it, because your truck will barely spin it's wheels when empty. But you are probably one of thos guys getting 22mpg while cruising at 80 mph too. I'm not sure why some of you are so upset, I was talking about my truck, not your mother. And those who say, why didn't I buy a Toyota , it none of your business how I spend my money. Anyways, my whole point is that this truck could be much better, the software that controls the drive train is killing it. And by the way, if you ever get a chance to drive a 5.7 Tundra, you will see what I am talking about. I said I like my truck, but towing with it was a disappointment, compared what I used to. If you are offended by that.......sorry.

Oh, by the way, I did use "tow haul " mode. The trans temp never went over 175 degrees, even on some long hills. Most of the time it was around 172 degrees. I was pleased with that, being it was quite hot out.

I think the main point here is you can't compare your Ram with 3.55's to the Tundra with 4.30's. Not even close to the same thing.

Time To ban Carfreak, Talk about my Mother will not be tolerated and quite Frankly if your not happy with your Ram then do us all a favour and go back to your Toyota.

I did not Purchase a Ram for the Gas mileage currently I spend about $ 160.00 to $ 200.00 A week just to drive it.

What do so many people complain about on the 2013 Ram? Just about everyone complains about the torque management, all I am saying is that the torque management really hurts the towing ability of this truck. Mineralram, you need to chill out. I didn't say anything about your mother. You can ban me if you like, what ever makes you happy. Maybe you should get used to the idea that everyone is entitled to an opinion, even if you don't like it.

You mentioned that you did use Tow/Haul
Your Ram should have handled it easily

Even a 3.21 rear end should handle it easily, except on take off & steeper inclines

I would go to either the dealership's service dept to see if you have some sort of Drive-ability issue
Or go to a local truck Club that is involved in camping & ask what they suggest, besides changing the rear end ratio, there may be some simple little thing that would help you out

You do know that a lot of Semi Trucks have Automatic Transmissions
They don't start off in 5th gear with a load, they start off in 1st or 2nd & help the transmission through the gears. Some of them have a 7 speed automatic, others can go even higher

GTyankee, I think the most disappointing part was the throttle response through the accelerator. If I even wanted to speed up a little, I would have to put the accelerator down almost half way, then it would kick down 2 or 3 gears, not a smooth acceleration. I am not sure, but maybe the 8 speed transmission would tow better. Not to piss anyone else off, but the transmission in the Tundra worked flawlessly, always kept the truck in the power band.

I got rid of my Tundra because I no longer needed a tow vehicle, before that I had a 2004 Ram 1500 Laramie. The 2004 Ram was also a great truck, it also towed very well.
