The 14 Ram I had and traded it off after sensors was replaced, stink flush and transmission replaced had a huge bump from 2-1. All happened in the first 12000 miles with Stink in the first 1800 miles. The one I have now had a slight bump for first 100 miles or so and is now smooth. The lemon I dumped had slight bump after transmission was replaced and then went away after about 100 miles too. If I stop very sudden I get a surge forward in First it seems. Ram is a awesome truck and have owned 4 of them this last one was a real Stinker. Hope I never get a "Bad One" again its not fun to deal with at all. Chrysler repaired all issues with a smile and very fast to repair, but not in tune at all when you want another truck. I suppose it was crap shoot, but I decided I wanted one like the first 4 with no issues and was my choice, but seemed like Chrysler should have offered some of the expense. The Dealer that repaired my Lemon was not Dealer where I bought it and done a Great job on all repairs. I bought this last one from the Dealer who made all my repairs and they are awesome like the truck.

I've got a '14 Ram Sport fully loaded with the 8 speed trans and 3.92 gears. Mine isn't only 2-1, although that is also an issue, but my truck shifts hard between 1-5 randomly. I hate it. I have a buddy who has the EXACT same truck as me except his is the charcoal gray color and has the 3.21 gear ratio. I drove his truck multiple times prior to purchasing mine. His is what sold me on Dodge. I have always been leery about buying a Ram because I have heard so many people talk about Chrysler transmission issues but then after driving his I fell in love. Now I have a Ram with transmission problems. I will say, this is the ONLY problem I have with the truck. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times now to have them take a look at it and finally, this last time I took it, they told me it is an issue that is widespread and Chrysler is in the process of trying to come up with a fix for it. I wish they would hurry up.

The reason we have that knob instead of a gear shift, from what I was told, is because the tranny is all electronic controlled. Not sure why a reprogram can't fix this issue.

I have had 4 Rams no issues until this 5th one. The transmission actually went out in my Driveway. Factory Rep looked at it said 90% chance shift module was bad. Then called me after his inspection then informed me shift Module was fine so they pulled tranny. Turned out a shaft in Tranny broke in two. Chrysler replaced shit module and entire transmission. I dumped it. The one I have now shifts smooth no issues so far. Like I said I like Ram with excellent track record last 4 trucks or would not have took a chance on this one again. I hope they figure out what the deal with yours is Nick....Mine was just a bad Truck all around and stink was never resolved. I was told shift modules can be issue on some of the 8 speeds and that Chrysler is having very few issues with 6 or 8 speeds. I was told stink issue was really isolated and very rare too.....The dealer told me same thing I bought the latest one from. Not sure they had any reason to tell me that if its not true. I will say Chrysler worked fast and furious to make all repairs except for the stink issue they drug their feet on that issue for Months!!

I wouldn't call it a clunk with my ED. I can feel the slack in the drive line being taking up and bouncing back a little. Frankly, I don't mind it. It makes the drive line feel solid. New Corvettes have RUBBER flex joints on the drive shaft to prevent such clunks. Bleh.

Default 3.92 and 8 spd

400 miles and noticing it more now - not sure if its the same thing - but when slowing down near a complete stop it seems like the brakes stop working for a brief second and then catch again - more of a "push" from behind...is this the "bump" everyone is referring to?
Also, what is the 32 gal bump? i have the 32 gal also and not sure if it is when its close to empty or what? Is it when fuel is sloshing around? please explain to the newbies!!

The 32 gal bump is fuel slosh.

Usually will be worst around 75 down to 40%, enough room to move a decent amount and still enough weight to be felt. We've looked into it at work with our spray trucks and fertilizer/water slosh. It makes the trucks dive and lift on the suspension with anywhere from 200-375 gallons in a 475 gallon tank. Anything less isn't enough to move the truck and 400 gallons doesn't have enough room to move.

I bought mine one month ago. It has the 5.7L/8 speed/3.21 gears. I really noticed the bump early on and was concerned. But with extended mileage (900 miles on it now) it seems to be smoothing out to the point where now, most of the time I don't notice it. I think I may be adapting my braking style to reduce it, by braking more gradually. Hard stops seem to bring out this characteristic more.
