Default Stupid Question of the day

I have a 2wd 1500. Do the wheel bearings need to be repacked? I can't find anything on 2wd.

I am planning to upgrade the brakes in the near future and if this needs to be done I will do while I have everything off.

Thank you for your time.

Generally you try and move the wheels top to bottom, front to back (not spinning) once the truck is jacked up. If they have any slop in them , movement, whatever - then you have issues. Some bearings are serviceable. Others are not. Depends on the year.

The front bearings on my '09 2wd are sealed, lubed for life, pressed in units, not serviceable. There should be no change in yours.

the newer trucks usually have the hub as a whole replaced. They usually even include the wheel speed sensor

Cool thanks for the info. I will be pulling the wheels to look at the brakes in a couple of weeks.

Nothing major, just slotted rotors and new pads. I am going to get new wheels, but I am staying with 17's so I think the stock calipers would be good. Looking at painting those at the same time.
