Default 2015 Keystone Laredo 299BH

Wife and I are seriously considering buying this camper. It is beautiful. My only concern is the tongue weight. My truck is a 2013 Ram 1500 with the tow package. It has a max tow of 8800lbs and a max payload of 1650, with a GCVWR of 14,150. The trailer weighs (empty) at 6880 and is rated at 8200 for a full load. The camper has a tongue weight of 830lbs which leave me about 830lbs of cargo. I know this is close. I think the weights are OK, but am concerned about pulling 29ft of sail behind my truck, I'm worried about sway and buffeting in high wind. Any co mments?

My 2009 1500 only had a tow rating of 7000 lbs. and it handled a 31' Jayco with ease. Expect cross winds to have an effect on any large trailer behind any truck as I have pulled many over the years. I found the 1500 to be the best half ton I had ever pulled with but when I added a 1000 lb. ATV in the bed I was overloaded and had to go to the 2500. Make sure your WDH is properly adjusted and you will cruise with no problems. All this is assuming you have the hemi.

Pulling a 27ft Airstream GVW of 7500lbs and hitch of 770lbs. We make it work. Loaded we're about 600lbs from the GVW. I doubt you'll load yours up that much if just weekend camping.

Get a good WD/Sway hitch like a Proride.

My max payload is 1050 on my sport and I pull a 34 feet TT which has a tongue weight of 880 when loaded. A I do weight more than 170 lbs lol plus the wife and the two kids
Weight distribution hitch + air suspension do their jobs and it pulls great!

Ok, picked the camper up Saturday, drove home Sunday. I was surprised how smooth and easily my truck towed the camper. Much better experience than I expected. Had to travel about 50 miles, mostly flat with an termperature hoving around 90 -95* outside. Watching my gauges, my oil temp rose to 230* while on the interstate and dropped as soon as my RPMs did. Probably gonna put in synthetic oil at my oil change. Other than that, I'm pleased with the combination.

I have a 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie (5.7 Hemi) and tow a 2014 Laredo 291TG (which is only a couple inches longer than the 299BH)....we've put over 2,000 miles on in two summers - no issues.... I use an equalizer WD hitch. Just expect to get between 9 and 11 MPG while towing.

Enjoy the TT.

The 291TG was one of our finalists in the selection process. Lazydays didn't have one on their lot or I suspect it would be in our yard now. Glad to hear your truck is towing without any problems cause this trailer looks huge. Have you thought about installing air bags? The WD hitch removes all the squat, but I wonder if bags would help. 9 MPG is exactly what we got on the trip home. That's gonna be expensive on a long trip but well worth it.
