Default all over the road

Good Morning,

My 2014 Ram 1500 does not take bumps in the road very well. At hwy speeds 60-65 if I run over some bumps in the road due to pot holes or just a bad road. It seems to go all over the place. anyone else have this happen to them. I had the suspension checked out by the dealer last week and all is fine.

Lenny

Do you mean 1) The truck sways from side to side? 2) There is some play in the steering wheel, but the truck stays straight? 3) You have to fight to keep control of the truck?

When i'm moving at a good clip and hit a bump there is some play in the steering wheel but the truck stays straight. From what I know, that's a normal reaction.

Have you ever felt what speed bumps feel like in a GM truck? Good grief, everything feels like you are running over a curb! The smoothness going over bumps in the road was one of my reasons I went with Ram this time. Best ride out of the big 3 for sure...

The roads here aren't particularly bad, but I've never seen my truck exhibit this behavior on any road surface.

I have no issues here in New Hampshire- we have plenty of road construction, pot holes, and less than ideal bridge transitions on the highway. If you're feeling like you're bouncing a lot over bumps, I would guess tire pressure is too high. Also, the 20's are a little less supple than the 17's, especially if they are brand new.

With that being said, if you're going around a curve at 60mph, the back end may skip a tiny bit, but nowhere NEAR as bad as many full size pickups. I used to drive my dad and grandfathers Chevy's in the late 90's and 2000's- those were some scary sh#$ if you were at highway speed and rounding a corner with a bump- the back ends walk like crazy.

Maybe you don't have a rear sway bar
if you don't, your back end will kick out on you

This guy tries to explain it

Did the dealer put the truck up on the alignment rack and check the setting? Ask the dealer for a copy of the results for your review.
