Default What to use to prevent water spots?

Get really bad water spots here and need to hand dry with cloth after. On my last car I used a microfibre cloth but seemed to make fine scratches on clear coat. What are you guys using?

I prefer cloudy overcast days to wash and in any case I do not wash in direct sunlight, rather when the sun is low in the sky. This slows the drying process a bit. I also frequently throughout the wash process and after washing, rinse thoroughly. When I am done rinsing I use a squeegee (specifically made for cars) on the horizontal surfaces which not only removes a lot of standing water quickly, I can use less towels, then dry with my microfiber towelss. This process has served me well, but I still wind up with a few water spots, which I remove when I wipe the truck down with detail spray and a micro fiber cloth. If water spots are still particularly bad for you and you have a few extra $$$, you can get deionizer units that attach between your water supply and hose. I have never used one, but I understand they work well, although they are rather pricey.

My apartment complex has a place to wash your car but the last time it came out so bad with water spots, I had to take it to the car wash to redo it. They have the spotless rinse feature which deionizes the water. I hate going to the car wash but the deionized water makes a huge difference and I don't even have to hand dry it and risk putting swirls in the paint.

Get a screw on water filter for RV's. Walmart has em here for about $20. Just use it when you wash your car/truck. I have really hard water, I get 20 or more washes before the spots start to come back.

Default Microfiber and walmart kit

I was going to suggest the same type of thing as hydrex.

In your microfiber towel, since there is no precise definition of a micro-fiber cloth, make sure there is no nylon, dacron, polyester, wool, or synthetic fibers that can scratch the paint.

Nothing wrong with a 100% washable, reuseable COTTON bath towel.

What an interesting idea. I'll have to give it a try.

Great thanks for all the tips! I was at Walmart and they have this towel called the absorber for $20 and a Walmart brand that looks the exact same for $5 called pva cloth, kind of looks like a shamwow. Are they both the same or is it worth the extra money to get the absorber? It says it replaces a chamois but which is better that wont scratch, a chamois or these new synthetic towels.
Which squigee do you guys recommend? Ill look into that filter next time I go to wallyworld.

Just checked online.. Is this the one http://mobile.walmart.com/ip/Camco-W...-Hose/14504321

For softness you can't beat old cloth diapers, barring that new ones work well but wash them a few times. Absorbent, easy to clean and long lasting.
