Default Who can select heavy duty electric brakes in evic

I have a dealer installed factory trailer brake controller and can't select the heavy duty electric brakes for my controller does anyone else have this issue with dealer installed ones. Chrysler says the only way you can select it if the controller was only installed at the factory? Is this true

On my 2012 there is no issues. Factory installed a year after purchase and you can scan right to it. I run this while towing.

Unless your trailer is over 10K you shouldn't be using heavy electric settings.

Would you care to elaborate on this nugget?

I disagree my TT weighs in at 6500 lbs fully loaded. I tried light electric brakes and I had to set the gain to 9 before I could feel the brakes engage. Now on heavy the gain is set to 3 and works flawless.

Can't change mine either. What's the deal? Should not matter dealer or factory install.

Full gain is only achieved in heavy electric. So actually all travel trailers with electric brakes should be controlled in heavy electric. Of course full gain shouldn't be needed but it offers the full range of adjustment to the brakes that light electric doesn't.
