Default Ecodiesel Reality Check

Well everyone is hyped up on the Ram diesel, have you seen the latest you tube test on pulling 7000 lbs up a mountain with a Ram, a 5.3 Chevy and the new 2.7 ecoboost Ford. Not the dinky 3.5 eco but the new tinker toy 2.7 ecoboost. It blows away the big Ram diesel and if you watch the statistics the Ram has 3.91 gears and the ford has 3.73 gears. I had ordered a new 5.7 Ram 2013 model which I love, but now I am scared of the fords. Can you imagine pulling a hill with a loaded car trailer and listening to the gears drop in your 8 speed and havng a 2.7 ford just blow by you. Why don't they turbo the 5.7 and put a stop to this nonsense. If you watch the link below be advised it contains graphic material (a Ram getting waxed).

Don't get your pants all bunched up over this "Ford" manufactured video bud. It's not a race anytime you tow something for one. And one more thing.....the EcoDiesel will last 10 times longer than that tiny twin turbo gas engine Furd 150.

And get better fuel mileage besides lasting 10x longer. There's always a tradeoff.

Wink engines

A gas engine will always work faster, but at the expense of fuel mileage.
Three pluses for the Ram; much better fuel mileage, last much longer and resale on the diesel will be higher. So don't come on this forum and try to spoil my diesel fun, because you will not. Had a eco boost. take the eco diesel hands down.

When have you ever gone balls out, pedal to the floor, non-stop for mile after mile while pulling 7k pounds?..... That's what I thought, never. Of course the higher horse power motor is going to dominate once the load gets moving. Capability wise, the eco-diesel was able to handle the load and get to its destination and I'm certain with much less fuel consumed. There is no "perfect" platform out there right now that is number one in pulling, 0-60, and fuel economy. Yes the eco boost is a solid platform but which are you more concerned with, getting there first or getting incredible mileage and still getting there albeit second?

I shouldn't let myself get trolled but:
http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=181069
The Ford may be a half minute fast to the top of the hill but I'll be passing by when it has a 15min stop for gas while I happily blow by. It would have to stop twice or be on fumes when it got to my lake house where I only needed one stop.

Wow, third thread for a AD video?? Really? This is a waste of bandwidth and really needs to stop. Or merge them all together.

What makes me laugh really though is they compared against the 5.3 from Chevrolet. The Hemi must have blown the doors off that thing.

Then again I guess they chose the 5.3 since that is all Chevrolet offers that could tow that much while returning decent MPG's.
