Notice that in the video they highlight the time split between the Diesel and the Ford. But when up against the Chevy, they highlight the time and the fuel efficiency - something that was missing when going up against the Ram.

So unless you plan on drag racing with a 7000 pound trailer - it is marketing video plan and simple.

A truly unbiased test would have been a comparison of the fuel numbers after each run.

Further to that - would be interested to see that test run 10000 times - > and then tell me which truck has the most mechanical failures.

I am going to guess it won't be the Diesel.

Looks like Ford is taking a page out of the marketing book of Bose (the masters of marketing and selling a crap product). I'm not sure what drag racing up a hill with 7000lbs proves but I'd still take the EcoDiesel all day. Every Dodge dealer around here can't keep the diesel's on the lot because they sell so quickly, I'd love to test drive one before I buy it.

Plus the video is a 2015 Ford, who knows what engine/transmission/power/tricks that thing has vs real production models...

I agree with what everyone else here is saying. Its the same thing I said on another thread regarding this video. Who buys a truck to do towing drag races up a hill? If thats what you want then go for it. Otherwise the video is meaningless. Ram never claimed they designed and built the Ecodiesel to beat Ford and Chevy in towing races.

I don't trust the results of this video. Based on the fact that it highlights the Ford throughout while glossing over the Ram and Chevy, it looks like a promotional video. It also doesn't show the entire pull and the drivers for all of the trucks were likely not pushing them equally. Do you honestly believe that a 2.7 V6 beat a 5.3 V8, or that a turbo gas engine beat a turbo diesel of similar displacement-by 43 seconds? I will wait for an independent test.

come on man, grow a set.

you really give a crap what anyone else might think and are "scared" of a another truck?

just buy the truck, be happy and enjoy it. who cares about anything and anyone else, they aren't making the payment.

and BTW, reving up a 2.7L turbo up to the top with that load over and over?

ya right, that will last long....

give me a diesel or a Gasser with displacement, keep the highly wound up turbo weed wackers for the Ford guys.

you can't even get anything larger than 5.0L anymore, they axed the 6.2.

for me the f-150 is off the list until they add a large V8, until then it will be Ram 5.7, GM 6.2 or tundra 5.7, but I like large V8s with borla pipes rumbling.

this thread should be titled EcoBoost reality check. That video was a bad joke and was in no way independant.

I love my Ecodiesel for the mileage, power, towing ability and the great way it sounds. The unexpected bonus was that everyone wants to talk about the engine. How much power does it have, what's your mileage, can I see under the hood. If I bought a f150 and only had a 2.7 under the hood, I sure wouldn't let anyone see just small my engine was.

I agree this is a dumb video and all about a promotion. But you have to admit that I think Ford and GM are both blown away by Ram over the last several years and are trying to catch up now. GM blew it but Ford has a winner with the new engine and aluminum weight reductions. Ford will win everything next year in the reviews and sales. I think Ram will keep kicking at GM and the others. No question I love my Ram even with the issues, but my Dad has had several top of the line F150s and they are very nice trucks.
