Hey boys,

Could my ED pull this without issue? My max tow capacity on the sticker is 7,000 pounds.

Thanks for the help!

That spec sheet says it's only 3200 lbs. Add another 1000 lbs for your gear and water and I think you're ok. Get a good self leveling hitch though and the trailer break control for your dash - from the dealer.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems that depending on the amenities the trailer has, it can get up to about 4,000 pounds. The one closer to where I live is 4,000 pounds. Do you think I would have any issue with that? I'd be around 5,000 after adding gear and people.
I do have a trailer brake control on the truck already! I will get the self leveling hitch.

I thought the ED's were rated to tow @ 9000lbs?? My truck is rated for 7850lbs and it tows my 6500lbs(loaded) 26' trailer perfect. I am sure your ED will have no issues with this trailer as long as you use a WD hitch..

ElRushmo - head on over to the "www.ram1500diesel.com" forum and you'll see a lot of info on towing with the ED. Lots of guys towing at or near your truck's rated 7,000 pounds.

Thanks for the tip!

There are certain models that can pull 9,200 pounds, but the longhorn only pulls about 7,000.

I think it has more to do with the equipment options. There is a maximum weight allowed for truck and trailer. The 2wd regular cab is the lightest, therefore can tow the most. When you add weight to the truck with crew cab, 4wd, larger box, you take away the amount weight you can tow.

I believe the ED is rated for 9K with the Tradesman regular Cab model. When extended cabs and more bells and whistles associated with higher trim levels are added, the tow rating goes down due to the added weight.

Thanks for the help!
What does the sticker inside your driver's door list your maximum cargo carrying capacity including passengers? Your weight + passenger weight + anything in the bed + your trailer's tongue weight should be no higher than what is listed on your sticker. Having a Longhorn myself, you'll run out of tongue weight capacity before you run out tow weight capacity.
