In our city everything takes second place to our school's marching band. Our sports are good but don't stand a chance against our band. Our football team has never won a state championship but our band has won 15 in 27 years and has been runner up the other twelve years. They have performed in front of 40,000 people in Indianappolis, IN at the RCA Dome where they won the national championship in 2006 and have never been below 14th out of 100 bands in all the years they have attended. They have won several regional championships in front of 30,000 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA and Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO. They have marched for the Fiesta Bowl and the Rose Bowl not to mention two Presidents including Bill Clinton and George W Bush.
My best friends have been in band with me and I even met my Wife through the band. I was a three year member (didn't allow freshman when I joined) and my wife was a four year member. Here a few videos, the first two are my second and third year. The last one is the national championship show!!!
It was hard work as we had various practices throughout the Summer and had full 8 hour practices two weeks before school until the first day. We had practice every day after school for 2 - 4 hours and had 4-8 hour practices on the weekends. It was basically a full time job for us but it can be seen in the finished product.
