Talking If U Ain't Moddin', You Are Dead!

I did a little modding on the Ram 1500 yesterday...nothing huge but I thought I'd share. I installed a Volant CAI. Throttle response improved considerably! Got a nice bonus out of it...I can hear the intake sucking in the air...kinda like the old 4bbl induction noise.

Here's the pics:

I'm seriously considering blocking off that forward facing opening in the filter box and relying on the other tube that fits into the inner fender. I have the stock intake tube, some large hose clamps and some rubber collar/transition pieces I could attach there and run towards the grill or the headlights. I might just try that!

Oh, here's a gratitious pic of the truck. I need to dress up the plastic bumper components. One thing I have been seriously considering is replacing the front bumper & grill with the Ram Sport optional pieces...all body color and fog lights. I have a set of aftermarket foglights in the garage I need to install as well.

Looks great Michael!

Does the Volant unit come with tubing to attach to the front hole?

Thanks, buddy! Don't see you 'round here much...LOL

Nope...it just inserts into the inner fender opening where the stock tube goes. I need to go back to the Volant website to see what accessories they have for this box, like the lower tube on the Volant I have in the 300. But, I also have the stock tube I think I can do something with.

You can definitely hear it sucking air in through that front opening!

The snow is gone but we are getting quite a bit up in the mountains. It's kinda rare to get any down here on the valley floor.

I've had good luck with Volant intakes. This is the third vehicle I've put one on.

I'm either gonna fashion up a tube to go on to that front opening or I'll block it off as the main air inlet sticks into the stock fender opening. One way or the other, the hot air going in from the engine bay won't be a problem soon.

Thanks for the kind words, boss!
