Default Tail lights... a curiosity

Hi.

Noticed since some years that all trucks or SUVs come with no amber turn-signals... just plain red for all functions: pilot, stop, warning, turn. Except of course reverse, traditional white. Some cars also have this kind of tail lights.

Is this a fashion or new rules/laws that manufactureres must follow?

Can't help you ... here in Italy amber is mandatory for turn signal, as red for stop and white for reverse ... so if you import a car from US you have to change it or you can't drive it ... once my boyfriend imported some tail lights from US for his Celica and had a lot of trouble on finding the amber bulbs for turn signal ...

I have noticed some amber rear turn signals here, but they all seem to be foreign make cars. I think all North American manufacturers use red!

So we can conclude maybe it's an american law ... Here in SouthAmerica dodge trucks are imported from Mexico build-plant, and obvoiusly made from american parts. So full-red rear optics are the rule...
