I am one of the "Evil" people that work in Fort McMurray at the tar-sands, i work for Enbridge as a Sour Blend Gauger which basically consists of just day to day operations of a tank farm, as well as taking care of the pipeline in which we ship about 250,000 bbl of oil per day from our site. Its easy work and awsome pay so i cant complain...

Here's an overhead view off Google Maps

I am retired & i don't want to just lie down

I have had a Commercial Truck Drivers License since about 1974
I escort semi trucks with very large cargo, that need Special Permits to move

if you see a truck load like this, you will also see someone like me, cops & maybe utility companies with it
http://www.northlandpilotcar.com/products.html

this load i would be charging BIG money for

Don't feel bad. Mine just turned over 57,400 miles today. It is a 2009. Being military, stationed in Tacoma, WA...my Wife's family lives in upstate NY, and mine lives in D/FW TX. Needless to say, the Ram sees ALOT of highway time.

When I bought my truck brand new in '08, I was working two jobs, full time dispatcher for an oilfield trucking company and part time parts specialist at a local auto parts store. I was finally able to get enough hours from my full time job, close to 60hrs/week now lol, so I didn't need the part time job anymore even though that's the one I enjoyed the most. Not sure what's going to be around the corner lol, but what I do know is these 12 hour days have gotten way past old haha.

I work in a Coal fired power plant as a power plant operator, not the most glorious job but the pay is amazing. I have had about 8 jobs in my life and im so happy that i finally settled into a career. Its about 110* inside the plant on the first floor and about 140* on the 14th. Im still in shock about the pay. lol. The best part of the job is i work 14 days a month, working 3 on 3 off for 3 weeks and then i get 8 days off in a row a month. so every month i get a weeks vacation. YEYY haha.

I work as a locomotive engineer. what that means is I drive freight trains. Mostly filled with the coal that run's Ghost's plant (or rather one or three like it).

We also run a lot of grain, as we're part of the corridor that leads from the grain belt down to Mexico and the ports on the Gulf of Mexico.

I pretty much hate my job, but I've got a lil over 13 yrs invested, and both the pay and benefits are excellent, so I can't afford to quit, especially in today's economy.

the job does have some good points.. click on the links below to see what I'm forced to look at every day at work out my "office window"

I'm currently working for the Bass Pro Distribution Center here in Springfield, MO. I absolutely hate it there because the pay is no where near what it should be for the stuff we have to put up with. No A/C, barely any fans, temps getting well above 100 F, only 30 minute lunch on 10 hour shifts, lots of heavy lifting, and most people don't have an IQ above 50. Working there made me decided to go back to school this fall and get my degree in being a Diesel Technician.
