i would aggree that a 4:56 would be a little to much for the 4speed auto tranny. if it had a 5 speed tranny it wouldn't be too big of a deal. but i too am looking to change to a 3:92 which the 3.7l comes with as an option. if that doesn't help then i will put a 4:10 gear in it but i wouldn't go any higher than that.

I think a 4.56 would be just right, unless the majority of your driving was flat freeways. My near-stock six is geared way too stupid tall for a truck. I usually drive unloaded in rolling hills and I can't use top gear.

i run 3.73 gears in mine with 35's on it and it does pretty good...does need a little more power in 5th gear but other than that its good..and ya 4.56 gears would be WAY

Default 4.56

If my calculations are correct, a jump to 4.56 over the standard and current 3.95 for V-6 engines, that would result in roughly an extra 300 rpm at 60 mph with 17 tires. In theory at least, that will cost you an extra 15-16 percent more in fuel costs. Perhaps if you pull a heavy load or yank stumps out of the ground, it's worth it?
