That was kind of what I read, on various other sites, that it was just a partnership. Geez, something has to help the ailing Chrysler, but FIAT??? The Daimler merger was like a bad marriage, all take and no give. We have to keep Dodge and Jeep (even though, besides the Wrangler, they don't have much to offer, either). What really needs to happen is to cut down on the duplicate offerings, i.e. Caliber/Compass (not picking on anyone, just an example!) Build a few good vehicles, ones that people want to buy would be a start, and do it well. Combine that with some good advertising and much needed cuts at the top, and Chrysler might just be able to stand on its own, and get rid of these private equity/hedge fund firms that know nothing about vehicles. After all, they make their money on betting that a company will fail.

What's the matter with Fiat? Would you prefer Toyota, Subaru or Kia?

Tha fact that brand don't sell too many cars (if any) in the states doesn't mean at all it would be a bad partnership... Fiat is one of the largest european car manufacturers. Not to mention the ownership of hi-performace, hi-prestige brands like Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Ferrari.

Yeah, that would be interesting, lol, but seriously, though, I don't have a problem with Fiat, per se, just out of all the names that have been tossed around lately as possible partnerships with Chrysler, Fiat was definitely one that I did not expect, so it just through me for a loop is all. Truth be told, as an American taxpayer, I am disgusted at a lot of these big corporations in the States, but, that aside, Chrysler should have just let their employees buy the company when that option was on the table. Daimler wanted all the profits when it came to Jeep and Dodge, but shared next to nothing of their technology. They came, they saw, woulda coulda conquered, then pulled out. Not bad enough that Toyota overtook Dodge as the third best-selling truck! Whatever happens, hopefully the next "partner" will have something to share as well as gain in the process, but I would really like to see all of the Big 3 stand on their own feet and regain their competitive edge in their particular market.

I spent alotta time today worrying over the furthering of Mopar vehicles and the more I read the more I fear one of my passions will be take away from further generations. From what I have read on this article and many others. The wrangler may be done for, every Dodge minus the charger and challenger may be done for (and in 10 years when they get stale to the general public will they just off Dodge claiming the muscle only oriented brand doesnt pull enough profit or fit in with today politcally correct world) and was this whole a Ram is not a Dodge it is merely a Ram just make it easier for Fiat to sell of Ram, I blame daimler for all this they fed us in the first place leaving us with nothing passenger car wise and never injecting money in to Chrysler it may be pathetic but I am scared when I go to buy my next truck when this one craps out I dont wanna have to get a Ford or something else or have see the legacy of Dodge cars die anyone else?
