Red face Headers???

My 04' 5.7L had a problem with the exhaust manifold a few months back. it had this little "twirpy" sound when accelerating, turned out it had a broken bolt. our guy said it was pretty common, tapped it out and put a new one in. sense then the problem has come back. he said that if we didnt get to it fast enough, the manifold could warp, and im wondering if thats what has happened. now i have limited knowledge of how the exhaust system works so my question is this, could i take off the exhaust manifold and place a nice set of Headers on in place of it? is that how it works? i worked on a friends little import tuner and thats what we did... i think, so im unclear. if so, how easy would this go back on to the old system? would it line up or need to redo everything? could we just link it up with the Cat-back and be good? thanx!

Yeah, a good set of headers, gaskets and Stage 8 fasteners will eliminate this problem. I'd check the head across the face of the exhaust ports to make sure that is reasonably flat and even.

ok cool. Any Suggestions, I checked out one of our supporting vendors here, but there "performace" system was like $1400, is there anything for someone on a budget? and will this attach to my old system? or will it need to be reworked completely?

It's an aluminum head... the manifold, iron... The iron is nearly impervious to exhaust damage whereas the aluminum, exhaust will erode at an incredible pace... 1500 degrees for aluminum vs. 3200 for iron... pretty easy to do the math.
If you've a leak, chances are the head took the beating... can be fixed...

...pacesetters are pretty cheap for hemi's, just make sure you get them coated. you must have looked at dynatechs (top dollar), if your in Cali look for shortys or mids that are carb approved...you can do lt's but you would have to relocate the cats and that's a big no-no in Cali...
