Default heating vents

Hi,new to the site and my problem is my heating vents wont change.They just blow defrost.It seems to be controled by air,is this true?If so were does it get its presure from?I noticed it stop working around the the time my heater core started to leak.Replaced core and still nothing.

first of all what year is your truck. if it is vacummed controlled most likely when you replaced the heater core you pinched the vacuum line that comes through the fire wall when you put it back together or cut it. the line goes from the control head through the fire wall to the engine pull your a/c control head and remove the vacuum harness from the back and see if you can feel any suction if you dont thats your problem just have to trace the line

I have a 2004 dodge ram with dual climate controls. The a/c and heat work fine. The blower motor worlks fine. The air ALWAYS comes out of the defroster no matter what I have the mode switch set to. I have already had the dealership tell me they found a short over a year ago wich fixed the problem for 600.00 labor and no parts replaced. I am having the same problem 2 years later. ANy thoughts?
