Question Pcm

I have a 05 dodge ram and was wondering if I do any work on the truck do I need to have it hooked up to a computer so I don't have to have it reprogramed. Since my 91 chev sprint I could do anything on it.....

well you shouldnt, what type of work are you wanting to do to it?
after you do somthing to your truck you could just reset the computer.

Question Pcm...

Well I would like to do my own oil change and new plugs and cap and air and fuel filter and ox sensor....and my trans and gear oil...

no you dont even have to touch the computer to do any of that, you could reset it when you were finished replacing the 02 sensors but its not necessary. nor does is need to be hooked up to a scan tool unless you have DTC's . so give her a good tune up and you dont need to worry bout the pcm.

Question DTC's

What is DTC's and how do you reset the computer as these trucks are new to me...

DTC is short for Diagnostic Trouble Code. One way to clear the codes is to find your fusebox and the fuse labeled "AutoShutOff" or "Main" or "PCM".

Pull that fuse for about a minute, put it back in and turn the truck back on. Any stored codes in the PCM will be cleared. If the light comes back, though, you have a repeated fault that should be scanned by the dealer.

i would suggest one with brass contacts. they work great on the magnum motors but im not very familiar with the 4.7 or the 5.7
if accel makes a cap and rotor for your engine i would suggest that.
