Default Which radio to go with?

Alright, I can't decide which one to go with here. I keep leaning towards the Kenwood KDC-X792, but would like to have a bigger face.

Kenwood KDC-X792:

The 1 1/2 DIN opening we have looks weird to me with the smaller single DIN, but double DIN would require more modifications. I like the Eclipse AVN2210P due to the detachable GPS, but the GPS is pretty much useless away from the unit.

I just have a hard time dishing out the cash that some of the other Double DIN navigation units are going for. The Kenwood I can get for around $180, and the Eclipse around $170. I am just about to sink more time and quality into this system than I ever have before, and don't want to skimp on the radio while I am doing it. I really want a great sound quality unit, but would like a factory look if possible. Any opinions? Recommendations? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Daniel you know I've just installed a double din on my Caliber so I would say go for a double din ... but if you don't want to do too many modifications... I say I like the Eclipse AVN2210P more.
I'm not very familiar with Rams ... how looks your dashboard and your radio now ? Any pics ?

Yeah I really like the Double Din you installed for sure. It just fills the dash more in my opinion. The knobs going into the side of the bezel limits options. I wouldn't be afraid to cut the opening larger and fill in the cutouts, use body filler, smooth out, and repaint. But only if I can decide on a double DIN that has what I'm looking for. Here is what a single DIN looks like installed (in a Cherokee) with the adapter kit:

I've seen something like that on Calibers too.

Yes, the gaps of the knobs are bad-looking

Yup. And the Ram already has a storage bin underneath the head unit, don't need two.

As for 1,5 din radios I've found something here :

The Pioneer is not bad, but I'm not sure if it is what you're looking for...

I did not know they still made those... I did find a Kenwood DDX-7017 last night for around the same price that may work... of course modifying the opening would be required. But I do have an older 5.1 processor for certain Kenwood head units that may work with it... that would be pretty sweet in the truck. I am trying to find out if it is compatible right now...

you're looking for opinions... so I say go with the Kenwood (though I'm more of a Pioneer man myself).

I've used some Pioneer head units in the past. Even a AVIC-D1 temporarily (screen wouldn't light up, traded it for a PSP) Do you recommend any of them? I've heard the DEH-P800 is a very clean sound unit. Even looked at an Alpine CDA-7998 (old school goodness) because of the size of it's face and how awesome I have always heard they were. But no modern features with it (USB, Satellite, HD, etc.)
