Question Hemi?

How can you tell or test to see if your hemi is working right. I raced a guy tonight and it kicked in at 3 g and then it was gone..is this right or not?

Well, you can always dyno your truck. But what do you mean it kicked in at 3 g? Do you mean 3,000 rpm? If so, that's really the beginning of the sweet spot in torque and HP curves up to around 5,200 RPM or so.

Also, what gear were you in? You have an automatic? What year truck? If it's a hemi, it's rated at around 345HP for the earlier models. And it's not hard to increase HP and torque with those engines.

the term "hemi" refers to the design of the compression chamber on the head, it is hemispherical in design, or has a dome shape.

This isn't a honda, hemi doesn't refer to a rpm delayed reaction on the valve train or unsafe surge in oil pressure that vtec does, meaning there is no vtec or "hemi" for your dodge.

Hemi is not to dodge what vtec is to honda...

well what exactly happened??

cause i know when racers say "it was gone"

either means 1: motor died and as crap after

or 2: the motor was fast as hell and i beat them

so...which one is it

he didn't say VCT, nor has he identified what year truck he has. Furthermore, i don't think he knows what he is trying to convery to us, cause i surely don't.

Yup...not sure what he is describing, either. Well, maybe he will come back and enlighten us.

It happens man, these motors are weird. I got spanked by an F-250 one night from a light, then about a month later saw him again and ran again. This time i pulled a truck and half on him though. It seems like the hemi has its days and not so good ones. Even towing i can feel a slight difference sometimes.
