Default I am having the same problem!!!

I have a 96 1500... she has 144,000 on her. My fuel gauge reads empty at all times, and i have the same problem but mine wont even hit 2500 rpm without bogging down horribly. It actually sounds like it is being governed. I also have to lift my foot from the pedal to shift into any gear and its an auto, and i am feathering the gas. Any ideas any one?

I am having what appear to be fuel pump problems also. I installed an airtex pump today and it worked fine one time. The truck is now back to hard starting and once it does start, i need to keep the pedal to the metal for it not to shut off. I think im gonna get something like an airdog pump installed. anyone have any other ideas????

if your having problem with those aftermarkets id go witht the OEM. the OEM's are what i allways go with. the truck i had before had 249,000 miles on its origional fuel pump. the dodge i have now has its origional fuel pump with 262,000 miles on it.

if your gas tank is close to full, sometimes it is better just to unbolt the bed, disconnect some wires, buy a 12 pack of beer & invite 3 or 4 friends over & lift the bed off

Just make sure the fuel pump is the culprit, before you tackle it

I read somewhere that the crank position sensor also causes starting/running problems. Does anyone know anything about that?
