RamminRoosters post reminded me to ask about MDS. Whats it stand for? Thats where the V8 drops down to a 4cyl to improve fuel economy on highway right? Is there a noticable switch while driving? My dad has an 08 ram and it has it, but he says he has yet to notice a difference in driving or gas mileage.

MDS= multi-displacement system

You won't notice it at all. If you put a loud exhaust on the truck you will then be able to hear the difference. You have to be taking it really easy for MDS to engage.

So the key is to take it easy for this to work, No wonder I don't notice it working on the Charger. lol, I never take it easy. Is this why I only get low mpg

I have never heard it doing that before. All the articles I read on the MDS only mentions 8 to 4 operation. I must have missed something in my reading.
