Default Towing question

been searching but really didnt find any input , lookin at the 2009 1500 rams , anyone have any opinions on them from a towing stand point ? i usually tow maybe 1500 lbs maybe 6-8 times a years and 5000 lbs two maybe three times a year. i know alot of people are gonna say go with the 2500 but would the 1500 be sufficient for these towing sitiuations ? also wondering how the trucks are under load when towing ?

IMHO, as long as the truck has the trailer tow prep you will be fine towing 5000 pounds behind a 1500.

I'm not sure of the exact rating, but my '08 1500, HEMI with the tow package is rated at around 7K or better....

I probably should look into the exact numbers...

With that minimal amount of towing you should be fine with a 1500. I tow 4000 lbs almost every weekend with mine, and tow 6850 lbs a few times a year. The coil springs on the '09s tend to squat more than leaf springs do, so loading the trailer to have an appropriate tongue weight is more important. Other than that the truck tows great. Mine has plenty of towing power, even with the 35" tires I have.

The 1500 will do just fine towing that load.
