Default Goin aftermarket on stereo for 02-1500

Anyone have a solid recommendation for an aftermarket stereo for an 02 Ram 1500 that has good audio quality without the neon lights? I'd like to do a self install and be able to run Aux from iPod / iPhone.

thx

Red face Stereo

First, I am cheap so I'm not going to tell you about some mega expensive stereo but I do like good sound. In both my Dodge trucks I put in a "Dual" stereo head unit. It has CD, a port for UBS stick thumbdrive, and an AUX port so you can run your I-phone or I-pod in. It also has a remote control and a removable face. The sound is very good and since it has amp out plugs I also power a rear under seat subwoofer with amp with this unit. I bought it on Ebay for around $85, but I just bought one for my daughter's Focus for $66 with free shipping. And I bought an installation kit and wire harness adapter kit as well. it took me about 30 mins to install it in the Ram and about 15 mins to install in the Focus. i am really happy with the sound, the look and the reliability with the Dual brand. It is a single DIN unit so you need the installation kit. But Dual has double DIN kits too.

I am personally looking at a Power Acoustik deck. I have a buddy at work that has used their products and not had a problem. Price sounds too good for the options it offers, but I will give it a try this tax season. It's an oversized face, but single DIN install...

As for Dual products, I have their speakers in my doors. They sound pretty good. A lot more bass than the stock speakers. Although, because they have the tweeters on stems and LED lights in them, the foam around the stem rattles a little bit. As for their decks, sound quality seems pretty good. Not too impressed with build quality, but the deck overall is ok for the money.

All in all, it's up to you. Pioneer makes some fairly inexpensive good decks, as well as Sony and Jensen. Get on Amazon and just search for car stereos. Read the reviews and make your own judgment calls...

Ok ok-- good to know fellas, thanx. Any inputs or suggestions for the faceplate to replace my factory one-- so it doesn't look all budget?

Smile stereo

go to crutchfield dot com and look at it by vehicle/price you want to spend, etc. they have great tech help if you need it. i recently replace all 4 speakers [3 originals failed 1 by 1] i installed a cd/usb port/ and 1/8" phono jack for several source options. am/fm. sounds great, especially compared to original radio. I think I have less then $300 for all 4 speakers/radio.

Yes. Crutchfield is an EXCELLENT source for your vehicle A/V needs. Customer service is great, good selection of products, prices are reasonable... AND, they usually include all the installation stuff with your order. Free! That's always a plus.

Crutchfied is great for head units and there is usually a coupon for $25 off using a visa online.. I have 2 vehicles with the Kenwood KDC series that has built in bluetooth and they work great!! just my $.02
