Default First time dodger needs info please.

Hey I was needing some info, anything will help. This is my first dodge truck and would like to know more about the platform, I have seen that 09 is the gen 4 style. What have they carried over. Ie, is the engine 4.7 the same as earlier gens, is the air intake on the same side and location. Is the exhaust the same. I know this is alot for a newbie but I can figure out my own parts if I know what carries over. Any information would be great. or even a site that has straight up comparisons would also be great. really looking to start adding some stuff. got that itch I cant leave anything stock, except for my wifes kia crap

I believe that they have changed quite a bit . Haven't had the opportunity to go over one yet . But I wouldn't count on alot of interchangability .

Default Different ... maybe

I am by no means experianced so verify anything I say with a more reliable source.

My understanding was that the 4.7 in the gen 4 was significantly than that in the gen 3 ram. The new 4.7 puts out 75 more hp than the older model, so I would assume some serious revamping took place. However some quick research (wikipedia) suggested that the new 4.7 may have been introduced in 2008.

I never trust wikipedia though since it's based on popular opinion and the posts of every knucklehead on the web. There are also very few proformance part avilable that are the same fore the 2008 and 2009 model which leads me to belive they are not the same engine.

Do some homework before you start swapping parts, and someone with expertise please weigh in on this.

I do know for a fact the the 2008 and 2009 4.7L are identical from a power stand point. The HP for the 4.7L increased from 235 to 310 from the 2007 to 2008 model year but remained at 310 from 2008 to 2009. This leads me to believe that the engines are the same, but I have yet to find anything on the web that gives a definitive answer on this. There's my 2 cents :P
