Default whats involved with repainting front bumper cover(ram sport 09)

well, im starting to get a little nervous. lol my new 09 had a couple deep scratches in the front bumper cover. he said he would fix it before i bought it. its an 09 sport with the plastic bumper cover in sunburst orange. how do you think they will go about doing this?

take the cover off?

paint bumper only?

blend it into the fenders? (hope not)

thanks. just try to keep a guy from worrying..lol

They will remove the part. They should prep the entire piece for new paint (scuff it up with an abrasive pad on an air buffer) to provide adequate "tooth" (profile) so the paint will adhere.

They may decide to strip it down to bare material but I doubt it.

Primer, some fine grit sanding, then color, more fine sand, more color, final sand and clear. The paint and clearcoat will have to have the flex material in it as the urethane cover will flex. Without it, the paint will crack.

So don't worry. And if you aren't happy with the result, don't be shy. Tell them so!
