Default Low Pressure sensors

Hi All:
All 09's are supposed to have a low tire pressure monitor with the sensors "attached" to the rims. Has enyone changed to "custom " rims and if so how did the installar handle the sensor transfer? Did they use new sensors or transfer the old ones to the new rims? Any info would be a real help when I go to purchase new rims.

You can transfer your existing sensors to the new wheels. Some wheels come with pre-drilled holes but if you select a set without the holes, the wheel shop can help you. Also, talk to the wheel mfgr before you buy as they can drill them for you too.

Thanks for the reply. I started looking and pricing wheels this morning and found out the sensors are in the valve stem. It lists a rebuild kit for the "tire pressure monitor sensor" and the picture shows the parts go in the stem. I was thinking it was something else, like a sensor glued to the rim. It was only $2.00 per wheel.

i think u have to have rims with special valve stem holes to mount the sensors b/c they are held on by the valve stem. another option is to see if dodge can diable the tire monitor system to keep the light out that way u dont have to worry about sensors at all.

Good point...you'll need a set of rims that the pressure sensor/valve stem assy will fit! I was thinking of some of the aftermarket systems that you had to have a second set of holes to use them.

And the stock ones can be reused. They only take a few revolutions to recalibrate to the computer once they've been removed.

When I re-did the wheels on my Chrysler 300 SRT8 I had moved all of 20 feet and they were all back on!
