What size wire did you use to go to the lights? You should not have to run separate wires unless you are using to small of a gauge wire and that would cause heat in the wire. Then you have to check if the wire going to the switch from the battery is right. Other wise I would have guessed a pinched wire, or shorted someplace.

they were pretty small wires i ended up usin a thicker wire for the power but the deal was that both the lights ran into one wire and it was e size of speaker wire so i went back and used seprate wires and ran both to one switch along with the power now they both work fine

Always use wire rated for the job. Lights in trucks run on 12vdc and pull more amps than in your house because of the lover voltage. two lights @ 55 watts is a little over 9 amps. That would be a minimum of 16gauge wire. I had a buddy start his truck on fire because he used the wrong wire ( plus he was a dumb a$$). Always use a fuse, and if it blows there is a reason why and fix it.

Sorry for rambling, don't wont to see people get hurt. I am an electrician and I have seen some big mistakes that have cost people big $$$$$$$ and do not want that to happen to anyone here.
