Well...here's a few reasons:

Styling - I used to drive GM trucks...had a lot of them. Had a couple of Fords too. For some reason, GM and Ford decided to hire some real whack jobs for designers. I've never seen uglier trucks than what are being made today. The Dodge style, on the other hand, is muscular, brawny yet refined. So, Dodge wins on styling in my view.

Options & Layout - Have you looked at any of the recent models? Even going back 10 years, when compared year to year, head to head, the Dodge interior has really caught up with, and passed, GM the proverbial leader in ergonomics. Everything is at hand, well placed and the trucks are just comfortable. So are the options but Dodge has just done a great deal better lately with incorporating all options without them just looking like they are tacked on. While you may not be in the market for a new truck, the QC and Mega Cab versions have some awesome interior space. And new for 2009 are the Ram Boxes in the bed. Speaking of the bed, there are lots of tie down and flat floor options to be had.

Powertrain & Suspension - We all know Dodge powertrains run forever. Sure, with any truck there are engineering and cost compromises inherent with any design. But I haven't had to replace my intermediate steering shaft joint on my Dodge at 25K miles like I had to on one GM and two Ford units. I'll save some words for the HEMI itself below. The suspension have been refined to the point you'd think you were in a car ... until you hit a bump with an empty bed. But you need stiff suspension to handle loads so that's what a truck is all about ... hauling. I've heard of some folks having problems with front suspension links and track bar links but I've got none on my truck.

Lastly, the HEMI. My truck doesn't have the HEMI. It wasn't being made when my truck was produced. But I have a HEMI in my Chyrsler. It's an impressive engine and it's very tuneable for performance. Great low down torque, good HP at the top end. And not bad on fuel mileage considering what you are getting under the hood.

So, that's my input here. Good luck finding what you are looking for.

Thanks for the input and welcomes. I was at a used dealer shop the other day and I asked the dealer what is the longest lasting truck out of ford, chevy, and dodge...he said Ford. Then he added that dodge comes with a lot of problems down the road.

I don't know if he was talking about dodge rams from the past or what...but that just made me want to stay away from dodge. That is the reason i logged here to see what you guys had to say.

If any, I wonder what problems he is talking about?

All trucks have some cost vs. engineering compromises. Mostly what you'll find, especially in 4X4's, is steering endlinks up front.

I wonder, as well, what he was referring to. Maybe he had more Fords to sell on the lot and wants to move them. LOL

First let me welcome you to the RamforumZ Club. Maddog basically answered your question the one main reason I think that puts Dodge above all others is the HEMI.

Welcome to the "Z:!
Fords and Chevies I drive both at work, like others have mentioned, the styling is crap. Fords seem to have forgotten to put springs in their suspension, after driving them all day my back aches like mad!
I am on my second Ram, the first I owned for eight years, other than tie-rods and ball joints, I had no prblems. If you could see the state of the roads here, you could understand the wear and tear to these parts..................Potholes-R -Us!
