Default another trailer lights problem

i read a few similar posts, but mines slightly different...
my 2004 2500 cummings 4x4 ext cab truck lights work fine...but my trailer brake/turn/4way lights have no juice whatsoever...the running lights work, backup lights work, but again, brake/turning have nothing on the trailer.

i pulled the plug off the bumper, and tested there..still no juice...it looks like the wires run all the way up to the front (no splices into the truck's brake lights that i can see) there are fuses in the fuse box listed as trailer right and trailer left, and the fuses are good.

anyone else have this happen? any reason why i cant just splice into my truck's Right/Left brake/turn lights and cut the lines that they are connected to directly?

thanks in advance!
steve

If your truck came with a tow package, you may need to install a brake control unit for the lights to work. On my truck which has the tow package. Had the same thing but I found a plug on the harness behind the bumper that let me plug in to the system with a 4 pin set up. and yes it was there from the factory. Good luck
