Default Shake at highway speed

My new 09' has a bit of a shake at highway speed. Didn't notice it right away. Thinking I must of thrown a wheel weight. At least I am hopping thats what it is. I only have 400 miles on her. I figure she should be smooth as glass on the highway. Steering wheel shakes and has a bit of a rough ride. I guess I'll have to give her up and bring it back for them to look at. It'll be painful. lol

I would think with the steering wheel shaking that you are right, you lost a weight on one of you front wheels. No big problem, but that sucks that it happened with only 400 miles on it.

It shouldn't take them long to diagnose and fix the problem if all it is a balance issue. I had one slip on my truck recently...it was a rear wheel and man, the vibration was ... er ... interesting....LOL

20's are hard to balance I don't care what anyone says....never had balance issues with my 18" wheeled Ford Lightning. HUNTER GSP9700 Road Force equipment used at Discount Tire.......but....you need someone who can use it. Some guys at Discount are good...and some not so good. So is life...........

I get the shake between 70 and 80 MPH. Took it to the dealer for that and steering wheel judder while braking.
I only had 72 miles on it. They had to resurface a rear rotor. That got rid of the steering wheel judder while braking.
Still have the shake....They say they don't feel anything and to drive it to 1500 miles and maybe it will go away on it's own.
I am going to bring it back next week. If you drive at 80MPH you can see the passenger seat shaking pretty good.

I had a similar issue years ago on a brand new Isuzu. They balanced all 4 tires and it didn't change. Turns out the cheap OEM tires permanently flat-spotted after sitting unmoved for months. I had to get the zone rep to ok new Michelin Cross Terrain tires. Problem solved.

Default Highway vibration

Get a torque wrench and torque all the wheels to 130 ftlbs.
They put the wheels on w/air wrenches at all different torque ranges and this can cause the wheels to feel unbalanced. I use a torque wrench on all my vehicles and it makes a big difference at higher speeds.....
Also, your new wheels will tend to loosen up after the first couple of hundred miles and should all be re-torqued when first installed.

I picked my 09 up two weeks ago and i think that i have same problem with the steering wheel shaking at 70 mph. The only thing is that it doesn't do it all the time which makes me think it could just be the way the truck handles with the new suspension on the highway. Anyone have any thoughts on it, the dealer said the air pressure was off and that was it.

Sorry for the long delay, but I brought it back in for service. They balanced all four tires and the problem is solved. She drives at highway speeds like glass now. WOOT! This truck is awesome!
