Default Noise Question

I apologize ahead of time if this is a stupid question. As with all vehicles, after you drive it then shut it off, the vehicle makes a tapping noise while it cools down. I have an '03 1500 QC with the Hemi and the tapping noise when I shut it off after driving seems to be louder than any vehicle I have ever driven. I can even hear the tapping when I am stopped in traffic or idling. Is this an issue or is it just because of the size of the motor? I have never driven a vehcle with this large of a motor so I don't know if this common. Again, sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks.

Definitely not a stupid question. Wonder if there is some moisture in the fuel system...

Well you can hear a ticking noise after shut down until the engine cools off. that is normal. If you are hearing something while idling, they are different noises my guess.

It could be, but it is the exact same sound.

I will look into that. Can I add something like dry gas to these engines?

I would definitely use something designed to remove moisture from fuel injection motors if you decide to try it. Some of the cleaners contain chemicals that are pretty harsh and can eat through the gaskets. I have had good luck with the B-12 Chemtool line.
