Default Debadged....Not so much

So I have debaged everything I have owned. This one didnt go so well. I got the emblems off without any issues. I used the 3M adhesive remover. However I can see where the emblems were. My truck is bright silver and you can see the outline shadow of the emblem if you get at the right angle. You can also feel it. I have used cleaner wax and a mild compound trying to get it off, but no luck. Its almost like the emblems were put on before the paint was completely cured. Anyone else with this problem?

how old is the truck usually if you wait too long after they are new you can run into problems like that. i would try some rubbing alcohol as a last resort that might work

Oh no! Sorry to hear that! Sounds like paint fade? Maybe someone here will have some help for you! I see you are new, why not go here and introduce yourself so we can welcome you properly!

Truck was built in april of 09 so I doubt its paint fade. Also its Bright silver. Its like the paint had a reaction to the tape that was used on the back of the emblem. Sure looks clean without them, until you notice the flaws. Oh well I guess I can always put them back on.

It probly wont show up in pics, but I might try. Mabey it just affected the clearcoat. I have used scratch remover, polish, cleaner wax, and a light rubbing compound. All by hand and not to hard. It still shows and you can actualy feel it when you run your fingers across it. I am going to take it by the body shop today and see what they say.

Question

My painter buddy removed mine on the 2006 STX that I sold today...... after 3 years in Texas sun....100 plus days....with a high speed eraser used to remove emblems by the pros. Then a good power buff with wool. Never heard of these type of issues before.

I had the same problem on my 2006 300 SRT8, which is also bright silver metallic. I had the car buffed out and it looked a lot better! Also, I did see a bit of a shadow left but after a year, the paint in those spots now matches the rest of the body paint color. Apparently it just need to sunbathe a little.

Might try some Goo Gone on a microfiber cloth. I have used that to remove the dealer badge on the tailgate before. But I made sure to wash the area right after removing the residue.
