So the computer is trying to protect the truck from idiots like myself. I can appreciate that, but shouldn't I be a ble to show off a smokey burn out every once and a while or at least KNOW that I could(not that I could afford a new set of 20's anytime soon)?! It sounds to me that I may be looking for a programmer to completely disable ESP and adjust the PCM.

Is there something about the transmissions that makes them need a lot of protection?

Well I can say with 100% certaincy our trucks are OVER DRIVEN and UNDER GEARED!

With your 545RFE overdrive transmission you have a 75/67 overdrive.

With the gut less 3.55 gears and your overdrive your OVERALL GEAR RATIO (OGR) is only 2.66/2.37 accordingly.

Both gears are gutless and would cause even the most powerful torque monster to BOG and LUG in such a gear. Plane and simple the factory messed up the gear ratios and they should have come from the factory with 4.10s as standard and 4.56's as optional.

Here is some good information for those who are interested in improving there gear ratios...

RPMs alone do NOT dictate fuel economy. So lower RPMs do NOT mean better fuel economy as most think.

Its the load on the engine at ANY given RPM that has EVERYTHING to do with fuel economy. Chose a gear that will get you deeper into your torque curve and you will see improvements on fuel economy & overall performance.
_________________________________________

Here is some simple math to help you best decide on what gear ratio to chose...

_________________________________________

STEP 1:
Find overall gear ratio-
OVER DRIVE GEAR x REAR GEAR = OVERALL GEAR RATIO (OGR)

STEP 2:
FIND YOUR RPMS at ANY SPEED-
SPEED x OGR x 336 / TIRE HEIGHT = RPMs
_________________________________________

In my experience I have found that a good rule of thumb is to aim for 2100rpm's@60MPH. This gives us the best all round performance gains to include fuel economy.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me.

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

holding the esp button does not fully turn off the traction control. I have a 09 cc with the hemi and it will not break the rear tires loose unless the roadway is wet.

Also, I race a 2007 double cab toyota tundra and I was smoke pretty bad. The hemi makes good power but the 3.92's can't compete with the 4.30's toyota puts in the tundra.
