Default Transmission HELP!!

I have a 1998 1500 Single cap reg bed 5.9L. Lately i have noticed that more and more the transmission gives a huge jolt when it shifts. This happens especially after getting off of something like a highway and then going through town...also at times it doesn't shift out of 2nd gear at all. This second thing happens more after ...well if your going up a large hill and it has to shift down that far..it won't shift out. It red lines and the only way to get it to shift is let off of the gas and if your lucky that works. I took it to AAMCO to get the free test thing done (money is tight) and they said that nothing is wrong. I know that something is wrong i mean when it shifts it practically gives me whiplash! Please help i'm going to the beach in 2 weeks and if there is a such thing as a quick fix for this kind of thing...i'm all game!
