this has happened to me mine is melted to a glob and the dealer put i back and by the time i got home it was back on the mat just a glob of black sticky crap. i can't get it to stay thought about ducktape but didn't want another ugly sight just plain wierd though for real.

that happened to me too it was like some black carpet!
i took it to the dealer and like always the guy hadnt even dealt with a 09 ram
so he just said that he was going to clean it up and after tossed the damm thing in the trash like nothing had happend
does anyone know what it is?

i believe its insulation for the HVAC housing & heat tends to make this glob cone out and show its ugly face.i will be removing mine before this happens

Sorry about your issuses but that seems to be an simple diy fix to me. You could be standing in line along with last weeks recent 480,000 Ford costumers waiting for recall parts to become available to get theirs serviced. I hope everythong works out for you.

I have a 2009 Laramie. When I went to buy the truck from the dealership I noticed a black pile of goo on the passenger side carpet , up almost under the dashboard... made me walk away from the deal. They later called and said it was some kind of insulation from around heater had fell down and they had it all cleaned up. They were right and I bought the truck. Year and half later no such problem.
