Well thanks everyone for your help. Sorry its been a while!

Here's the end result. I went with a Flowmaster 50 series dumped right near the rear axel with a turn down pipe. I love it!! Its basically the sound i was looking for.
Here's a video i made right after i got the new muffler a few months ago.

Thanks again!

That sounds pretty darn good Pat! Was talking about this possibility the other day with a friend of mine.....

Yep no echaust other than the cat on the truck does the same thing. I am still running the thrush right now and am ALWAYS setting off car alarms when I drive by and scaring people at the lights. Had plenty of people ask me if it is the 5.7 because of the sound. Best thing is the thrush mufflers are only $20-30. I am actually going to change out for a Dynomax system here in the next few months because it is cheap and will give a more even note and not something that is always setting off alarms which gets dam annouying after a while.

I would shy away from Dynomax IMO...I have a Dynomax muffler on mine and the sounds it makes at higher RPM's is terrible. It gets real high pitched and raspy. Not to mention that my muffler is already starting to rust out.

Yeah, the six could use two more cylinders for a better sound, but the entry price is why we buy these in the first place! Flowmaster sounds pretty good, it's what I have.

That video sounds pretty mean for a v6 best v6 ive heard in a while. My friend has a side dump si/do w/ a thrush muffler on his 4.0 v6 Ranger and its sounds pretty good if you considering just a muffler swap Id look into thrush weldeds

Rather than making a new thread (since this is my old one) i thought id just bump this one....

In the video i posted above you can hear my Flowmaster 50 on my V6.

Im thinking about doing a cutoff valve, with the option to run the exhaust thru the flowmaster, and the option to switch it to a straight pipe setup dumped under the axel if i really wanted to make alot of noise.

Question is, the Flowmaster makes it loud. Would straight pipes just make it sound like a piece of junk beater?
I think if i routed it to pipes out the back it might, but what about a turn down?

Flowmaster is so smooth sounding, more like a drone noise. I dont want to lose that, but are there any options to go louder (for brief periods of time....hense the cutoff valve)?

If you don't know exactly the answer, any thoughts?

Default Flowmasters

Flowmaster mufflers will definitely give you a deep huskier sound. And here is a link to the factory video clip for Ram which includes instalallation and sound.
http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/index.php?page=176

I have two of the 40's installed on my 'vette and like the sound, but at low rpm, they do tend to reverberate noticably enough for me to actually feel it.

I have also thought about doin the cutoff valve. im not sure how it would sound so if you do the setup let me know and let me know how you set it up and with what pipes.

I cannot stand the sound my stock muffler sounds at mid range, but that second, flowmaster 50 sounds pretty nice. I bit deeper getting a bit raspy at higher rev's, think I'd like it.
