Unhappy Cruise Control? "BRAKE" Light.

My cruise control isn't working at all. I've checked the fuses and relays, all are fine. Also my BRAKE light has been on since I bought the truck. It was painted over, until recently when I noticed a small red light and scratched at it and found it to be the BRAKE light painted over. Also the ABS light is on. Are these all related somehow? Can anyone help me fix atleast the cruise control, I'm headed on a long trip soon, and it would be nice! Thanks!

They are related some how, the cruse will not work with the break on.

I would not know where to start looking, maybe someone else will help answer this one.

The ABS has a bad sensor most likely which will cause the ABS not to function. I had this same problem and it also caused the cruise control not to work.

I'm not sure if this would help you or not. Shortly after I purchased my truck I had an issue with the brake light staying on. The fix was easy by pulling the brake release with hand then pulling up on the brake with foot till it wouldn't move any closer and released with hand while still holding with my foot. My thought for your situation would be if that worked the cruise in turn would. Cruise control usually doesn't work while brake is engaged (as thought by computer i.e. brake light on) as gm owners tried to eliminate daytime running lights.

I have had the same problem. I was told it had to do with the sensor or the computer. I disconnected the positive battery connector for more than one min. as instructed. After the battery was reconnected the lights went out.

2005 dodge ram 1500 abs light and brake light are on as well as my cruise doesn't work. i have already replaced my differential speed sensor with no help.
I also disconnected my battery while changing the speed sensor in the differential.
I also would like to know what the fix is for this issue!
