Default Dodge Ram Diesel Power Loss

Hello All...

I own a 2002 Dodge Ram diesel HO with a six speed. After one year's use I noticed no power every once in a while. Now it happens most of the time when I run around 1500 RPM but clears up at 1700. If I stay on the throttle through out the range it doesn't happen, only when I let off at about 1500. During the times when it happens and I'm not carring a load, I will floor the accelerator and when it finally creeps up to 1700 the power comes on. It will also clear up if I throw in the clutch and hit the accelerator. My guess is loss of boost from the turbo or power from the CCU. I would change either if I knew for sure, but they are expensive and I don't want to guess wrong. All filters are changed long before they need to be and there are no fuel leaks. I average 17 mpg highway and around town without a load.

Thank you,
Lance

VP44 / Injection Pump ...... Common Problem with the 24v HO's..... Have your fuel pressure checked. You could also have a boost leak but that would be a loss of power through out the entire power band.
