Default K&N intake

I already have aftermarket exhaust, 1-into-2 on my '08 5.7L.

I am looking into the K&N filter but wanted to hear from someone that knew about it first hand.

Is there any noticeable HP increase? Where is it noticeable? Is fuel economy changed at all?

Thanks in advance

I am running the K&N FIPK kit . Noticed a difference when driving . Milage wasn't effected . Feels stronger on mid range and upper end .

don't currently have a K&N set up. I'm running an AEM CAI. I have used the K&N filters in the past. I never noticed any improvement in performance or gas milage. What I did notice was that I only had to buy the filter once, afterwards it merely needed to be cleaned.

The initial cost of the filter, plus the cost of the cleaning kit it a bit more than a replacement factory style filter, but I always figured that it would only take 2 or 3 filter cleanings to justify the extra cost.

just my opinion

Thanks for the input. I looked around for a while but was never able to find any dyno results. My guess that the increase would be minimal if you don't change any of the electronics..

i've run k&n on my ford i had and now my dodge and i did notice some performance, it seems more responsive from start also sounds freakin sweet when ya lay into her, and when i got my kit they had a dyno sheet with actual reading saying 14 hp which is most likely to the flywheel so no it won't make a night and day difference but just something to say ya i have that

i noticed some more pep in the step, but wasnt blowing my doors off. It made it sound good as hell on the high way, but then loud exaust outweighed that ha

These are the dyno numbers done on a DynoJet 248. 2006 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7L ALL are at rear-wheel

Stock exhaust + intake 239.6@5,600RPM
Corsa exhaust + stock intake 253.3@5,700RPM
Corsa exhaust + K&N Aircharger 255.9@5,600RPM

These are taken from the SA Design HEMI builders guide pg 81.

As you can see, the intake doesn't do a lot on its own, but if you have the exhaust already then it will improve what you got.

k&n do let the air in which inturn should give more or better performance ?

so if you want all that air in then you hav to let the air out and thats the exhaust, but clearly the exhaust is the better choice at first for a mod.

there are better alternative out there other than K&N . i say go a complete cold air intake make over after the exhaust, or wich is ever cheaper at first to do
