Sorry guys - this has nothing to do with our trucks but it's a great story and a great example of how the RIGHT kind of gun control could work:
The town of Kennesaw, Georgia had a fairly low crime rate to begin with, but in a reaction to another town's (Morton Grove, Ill.) new gun ordinance restricting gun ownership, the Town Council of Kennesaw decided to do the opposite. In 1982, the Kennesaw City Council unanimously passed a law requiring heads of households to own at least one firearm with ammunition
. When they announced this, the crime rate in the town went from 11 property crimes per 1000 in 1981 to 0.23 property crimes per 1000 in 1982. This low crime rate has persisted since then.
There also has not been a single gun-related death in Kennesaw in the 27 years since that law, and only a single murder (it was a murder/suicide, tragic, but not related to random gun-toting thugs.)
Contrast this with Marietta, just 10 minutes away. Marietta has twice the population, and 15 times the violent crime. The Murder rate is 5 times as high, violent rape cannot be calculated since there are none reported for Kennesaw (Marietta averages 12 to 15 per year.)
