Default 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab V8 5.9 litre

Hi everyone, I'm looking to get this truck and am close to getting it. Although people are trying hard to convince me not to, saying I'll be paying a TON in gas alone ect. My brother in law being one of them. He owns a 2004 Ford 250 Super Duty and tells me how much he has to pay for gas in it. But he probably does more driving in one day than I will be in the whole week!

I'm 18 years old, not married, live at home and have no expenses and make almost $400 a week. Would I be able to afford this? Really the only driving I'll be doing is to work everyday Monday to Friday, and work is two miles away (one way). Then after work, I'll probably be going to the gym..also two miles away one way. So thats 8 miles a day in total, 40 miles Monday to Friday. And lets add another 25 miles onto that for going out on weekends. Thats 40-65 miles a week. How much am I looking at per week then?

Thanks a ton.

About twenty bucks, LOL. You won't be using too much at all if that is the only driving you will be doing. Welcome to RamForumZ!!!

I say get the truck, with that little of driving gas will not be an issue. Even if you did drive a lot you should get better MPG than a F250.

I have the same truck with a 4 inch lift on it. I get between 10 - 12 miles per gallon with it. It is an awsome truck!! I love it. It is my first dodge, and will not be my last. If that is all the driving you will be doing, go for it! It won't be to bad. I can make a tank last a week if I am carful with it. A tank is running me about $50 to fill up. Post some pics when you pic it up!

I spend about $20 a week on my truck as I don't put much mileage on it. Go for it!

My work drive is about 2-3 miles round trip. Besides that it is pretty much just weekend driving and gorcery store runs during the week.

If nothing special is happening in a month I will sit right around 150 miles a month. (Been averaging less then 6k miles a year for last 4 years). So yeah... I will go 4 weeks at a time without filling up sometimes

...... You gotta be kidding me..... 2 miles to work..... You all can ........ ...joking..I drive 37 miles one way to work.....THANK GOD I have a Civic that gets 37 MPG or I would be broke........ The 5.9l will get 12 to 14 MPG but with only 2 miles to work and around you will not even get the engine hot.......Get the truck and also get a scooter or Bike.......You will kill your exhaust by not getting all the moisture out of it..Boost
