Default Newbie, Truck running horrible

Hey guys, I'm new here. I have a 98 ram sport with the 5.9. The truck has been running terrible for a while, burning oil and coolant which I am assuming is a intake gasket. The truck shifts real hard, sometimes going into 2nd it will rev up a little before it engages. Recently I threw a C.E.L, had the code pulled and I had a misfire on cylinder 8. This was not the first time I've had a misfire, but last time it was on 3 cylinders. I replaced the dist. cap/rotor/plugs/wires, and it still is not running right. The truck feels like it has no sack at all, when I first bought it a year ago with 94,000 on it, it would break the tires loose all the time. The truck now has 115,000, I commute to college and I need to get this running correctly again before the semester starts in August! Would the intake gasket cause a powerloss this bad?
