im looking to buy a 1994-2001 ram 1500 4x4 how can i tell if its got a factory posi trac rear end or did they all come with them

Mine had a paper tag on the left tube that said limited slip . If it does make sure the diff has been serviced reguarly . The posi's in these from the factory required servicing every 15,000 miles . If they weren't and were neglected it would of practically destroyed the rear . I'm talking from experience . Dealer told me when I questioned them about this that they see it from time to time . Be careful .

9 times out of ten a paper tag is gonna be gone anyother ways of telling on a used car lot? i know all the fords have a metal tag that tells you gears and if its open or limited slip ie a ford tag saying 3L73 is a 3.73 geared limited slip rear end. does dodge do something similar to help id the guts of the differential or what

if you could possibly test drive take it out and mash it to the floor and see what she does....

good plan i might ask it its posi if the salesman dont know ill romp it up and look for the two black marks. i spend alot of time off asphalt for work and i aint playing with a one tire fryer. i want both my back tires to lock in and get me out. any ideas on good aftermarket limited slip or automatic lockers?

My 01 has a equipment id tag in glove box. If rear end is out of truck ,hold one axle and turn the other one. If it turns easy it is a one wheel peel. It should turn hard or not at all.If clutch pac is bad ,it will turn,but with some resitance. I hope this helps you.
