Default Switching High Milage to Synthetic Y or N

I'm just got a 2000 4x4 1500 with the 5.9l and i was thinking of switching everything to amsoil. Oil, Oil filter, Lube, transmission fluid, gear oil ect.
But i keep hearing that if i switch to a synthetic i may be in for trouble with leaks around the seals,
The truck has no leaks around the engine it is spotless and it has 107K miles i'm worried i might mess up switching and causing leaks.

And for the record i'm not wanting to switch so i don't have to change my oil as often. I'm going to be pulling a 24' pontoon and i want the motor and tranny working as cool and comfortable as possible

I switch back and forth from conventional to synthetic on my 95 318 RC 4X4 with 170k. I run synthetic in the winter here in MI. Summer I run either. No problems or leaks. It won't hurt anything.

I think most of the "high mileage" oils are either synthetic or a synthetic blend. I would say go for it, don't think it'll be a problem..

yeah most high mileage oils are synthetic blend anyway, so that switching from full synthetic, back to high mileage sythetic blend will not be as bad as going from full synthetic to convensional...Although, valvoline claims that switching back and forth between oils, whether full synthetic or conventional, is not harmful to your engine. I dont see why you would want to do that, but I would not recommended it personally because of the different viscosity of the oils even though they are the same weight....ie, 5w20 full synthetic is a thicker viscosity than conventional 5w20...to me thats really not helping out the engine run properly because of the difference in the thickness of the oil when going back and forth...

So how did this go?

I'm thinking about switching to synth-blend though and mine has half the mileage of yours.

Well, I switched to SynthBlend from non-synthetic. Been running for a week now. No leaks yet. The oil got dirty though after a couple of days.
